why blog?

I have a piece of advice I have been giving my children for years:
“Always tell the truth; it makes it easier to keep your story straight.”

Welcome to the Seven Villages!

Janet Swain Joakim

As a municipal legislator, I have learned that we often find ourselves subject to criticism for issues and actions. This is to be expected as a part of the job. But, it is very frustrating when the overall information leading to such criticism is misconstrued or simply lacks the facts.

I will do my best to address some of these issues we deal with regularly in Barnstable. I will try to provide the facts, and will also offer my own view and perspectives.

This is a bit of an experiment.     Tell me what you think!

Why Blog?

As someone who spent more than ten years designing and developing websites I have watched the world of blogs grow with fascination. I have wanted to participate for years but have watched some local blogs simply draw the same group who turn people off with long winded - expletive filled - angry rhetoric. I have tried to avoid reading some of the local blogs - especially after friends have told me that if they try to disagree with the authors of the postings, they are blocked from the site.

RULES:

I moderate posts.    Respect is the primary rule.

Flames and expletives will not be permitted, or will be cleaned up before posting.

I reserve the right to edit or delete anything that might be libelous, malicious or profane.
