got a message that sent me to the computer in the middle of the night – a boil water order once again, this one for the village of Barnstable Fire/Water District is not affiliated with the Town of Barnstable – it is independently managed and legislated …. see the Cape Cod Times Online for the latest http://www.capecodonline.com

BARNSTABLE — The Barnstable Fire District’s water department issued a boil water order last night based on testing done Tuesday that showed traces of E. coli and coliform bacteria in water samples.

The announcement comes two days after the neighboring Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills water department issued a boil water order that lasted 18 hours.

Residents of Barnstable Village and Cummaquid were receiving automated messages about the boil water order from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department last night. The boil water order is in effect until Monday night or Tuesday at the earliest, water district Superintendent Jon Erikson said last night. Centerville Osterville Marsons Mills Water Department has contacted the town regarding the information that follows.
please note: COMM is independent of the Town of Barnstable and has their own governing board and administration- COMM uses the county’s reverse 911 program that will make calls tomorrow – Thursday.
