Seven Villages, Janet Joakim

We spent Friday and Saturday evening at the new Barnstable Youth and Community Center.

What a wonderful place!   A gift to all of us, from all of us.   There were so many people who worked hard to put it all together, from staff, philathropists, parents, and residents.

Saturday night we watched two hockey games on one rink, while kids skated to loud music on the next rink, while more kids played pool and other games in the game room downstairs and groups played basketball on two courts and parents and senior citizens walked the track above — oh and the line to get a good hot dog and fried dough was always moving.

The staff was running around fixing the little issues that come with putting all of the new equipment to use while smiling at the steady stream of adults and children.

This is truly one of the best things that our town has accomplished in years.

Make a point to get over to the new center to check it out.
