hyannis public library funding

Like towns all over Massachusetts and across the country, Barnstable is making deep cuts throughout all departments and funding this year.
The town provides funding to the libraries each year that is distrubed via a formula set by the Library Committee, a town-wide committee made up of trustees from each library. The formula is developed by the library committee without oversight or input from the town council or the town manager.
This year the town has had to cut the overall library funding budget by 4% – similar to the cuts made in all town departments. Additionally, it appears that the library committee has made a change to the formula. All of this has resulted in a more significant loss of
