Mark your calendars!
15th Annual Cape Cod Pathways Walking Weekend ; October 10–13, 2008
BARNSTABLE COUNTY, MA — The 15th annual fall Walking Weekend sponsored by Barnstable County’s Cape Cod Pathways program will take place Friday, October 10, through Monday, October 13, 2008, at walking trails across the Cape. More than 25 walks or hikes are planned, coordinated by the Cape Cod Commission with help from volunteer walk leaders.
The Cape Cod Pathways program began in 1993 with the goal of linking a network of walking trails from one end of the Cape to the other. About one third of the needed trail segments are already in place with support from Cape Cod towns and volunteers. Pathways trails are dedicated in Barnstable, Bourne, Brewster, Dennis, Eastham, Falmouth, Harwich, Mashpee, and Provincetown.
The complete schedule for this year’s Walking Weekend, with directions to each walk’s starting point, is now available on the Cape Cod Commission’s Pathways Web site: www.capecodcommission.org/pathways/
Note that the schedule and walks may change between now and October 10th. Interested walkers should check for updates as the date of the event approaches.
Walks will take place rain or shine. They are generally offered without charge and without reservations, but the online descriptions will explain any variations in those details.
