The Community Preservation Act is what replaced the Land Bank a few years ago. This was something that was approved by voters at the polls. The Act provides that 3% of the town tax be added to our tax bills and the money is put into a fund.  The state provides additional matching funds from the Community Preservation Trust as percentage – this amount changes each year.

The town has an appointed committee that accepts applications for distribution of these funds, holds public hearings and makes recommendations for funds distribution in one of three general categories – conservation, historic preservation, and housing.
