After careful consideration and discussion with family and friends I have decided that I will fight the recall attempt.

Throughout the past few weeks I have heard from so many people who are concerned about who is behind this recall effort and the vendetta that drives it, and what this means to our town.

The reasons for the recall as presented on the petition misrepresent my record and place blame and responsibility for the decisions of others at my feet.

According to several people who were met at their doors by someone asking them to sign a petition, my record, motives, and reputation were misrepresented in those discussions.

Taryn Thoman, who initiated this petition drive and collected signatures, and the group calling itself COG, have been relentlessly Continue reading recall election…

The Community Preservation Act is what replaced the Land Bank a few years ago. This was something that was approved by voters at the polls. The Act provides that 3% of the town tax be added to our tax bills and the money is put into a fund.  The state provides additional matching funds from the Community Preservation Trust as percentage - this amount changes each year.

The town has an appointed committee that accepts applications for distribution of these funds, holds public hearings and makes recommendations for funds distribution in one of three general categories - conservation, historic preservation, and housing.

In the past when the town had land bank funds set aside, those funds were used to buy mostly Continue reading one of the community preservation victories on craigville beach…

Thank You.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to stop me in public, or call me at home, or send me an email.

Your support is important as we wrestle with difficult decisions.

I am taking it all in and discussing it with family and friends.

Unfortunately, the ugliness continues.

There have been over 90 message left for me on this blog - most likely from the same person or persons - in the past few months, many Continue reading difficult decisions…
