opportunity to give input regarding design of three rt. 28 intersections - lumbert mill, south county, and rt. 149

The meeting last week with Mass Highway was productive and informative. We were presented with the plans for the three intersections with Rt. 28 and invited to give input.
Lumbert Mill and Rt 28 (!!!)
South County and Rt 28
Rt. 149 and Rt. 28
There were lot of questions about sightlines - about whether people will be able to see the stoplights before the intersections and be aware a stop is coming up. We were told that the lights planned for each of these intersections will be the kind that hang from a tall arm pole, visible from a good distance.
The other questions focused on left turns and the length of time between signal changes. Each intersection will have left turning lanes and signals on rt 28 and will use a device in the pavement to determine the length of the time before the lights change. Each light will have opticons the device that allows the fire and rescue to trigger a four way stop as they approach an intersection in emergency mode.
We are all welcome to give input until this Friday. A packet of information that was handed out during the meeting can be found here in pdf form:
hearing_brochure
and includes a form that can be filled out and sent in to Mass Highway if you want to give any further input. If you can’t download the PDF contact me and I will get you a copy.
The project will be done, most likely gradually in stages, together in a way that will be congnizant of issues that would create traffic problems in three locations. Mass Highway plans to have a shovel hit the ground in the Fall of 2009.
If you have any questions contact me and I will try to find the answers.

Thank you for adding me to your mailing list. I appreciate the update. I, personally, was involved in an accident at Lumbert Mill and 28 a few years back. It was 7:30 am on a Sunday with little traffic. It shouldn’t have happpend but its difficult to cross 28, even then, when a car is coming over a hill at 60+ mph. A newly licensed teenager running late for work. Yes, we need lights there. At busy times, it can seem like forever to get a break in the traffic. Thanks.

Thank you for all of your hardwork.
There is a silent majority out here who are behind you.
Perhaps we need to be less silent.

There will be plenty coming out about Ms. Thoman beginning 8/28/08 @ 2-pm in the Barnstable County Court house.

Bittersweet - perhaps this information should be shared in order for people to understand who this woman is and where she is REALLY coming from.

I am worried about the grade and turn of rt 28 coming from the west on rt 28 as you come up on Lumberts Mill Rd. Does the state plan to correct that grade and curve to enable the driver to see the lights ahead?

To Mt. Ash Observer:
This is not the old story but yet another chapter. Ms. thoman is again going to court on that date to answer to charges of Criminal Harassment for the SECOND time involving the same victims. Her husband Mr. Dennis Wilcox has also been back for the SECOND time and will be arraigned shortly due to an assault on his FEMALE neighbor. I suggest that you watch with a sharper eye. Your facts are a bit off.

you sure do talk about other people’s failings a lot. what about your own? when you are recalled, I am sure you will point fingers at the usual suspects, and demonize and criminalize them as best you can with your man Demetrius.
I have read the various local blogs and find most of them out of line, especially yours. I do not take blogs too seriously, but I think that the things you have posted in your capacity as a town leader are disgraceful. I hope that any litigation arising from the trouble you have caused so many people in this town will bring your actions front and center. Those critics of yours are looking more credible insofar as you really are a disgrace to the town.

There is no slanderous libel on this blog.
I don’t operate that way.
The message above was left twice, identical messages, one right after another. But interestingly, the IP number was different on both comments.
This is because the person posting is using an IP masking program.
Wonder Why?
