Shooter Had Long History With City Hall

Charles Lee “Cookie” Thornton always seemed to be fighting City Hall.

Even before he shot and killed five people at a City Council meeting, thousands of dollars in parking tickets and citations piled up against the asphalt company owner. He raged at meetings over the years that he was being persecuted, mocking city officials as “jackasses” and accusing them of having a racist “plantation mentality.”

Police are releasing few details about what went on inside Kirkwood City Hall during Thursday night’s deadly shooting.

Police say Charles “Cookie” Lee Thornton, armed with his own large-caliber revolver, shot and killed Kirkwood police officer William Biggs outside of City Hall before taking Biggs’ weapon and storming the meeting.  read story here

  1. So tell us who, in your point of view, is going to go postal? The problem is that you cannot tell with certainty. When is the next meeting? This Kirkwood tragedy is very unsettling.
