This is the question no one seems to be asking publicly - but many are asking privately.
A few of us have considered this in detail, and I will share some of those thoughts over the next few days.
Would it happen here?

KIRKWOOD, Mo. - Some left flowers, balloons and memorials on the steps of City Hall. Others gathered at a prayer vigil where a bell tolled six times as mourners clutched white candles.
Residents of this St. Louis suburb struggled to heal as they tried to make sense of a shooting spree at a City Council meeting that left five people dead and the mayor fighting for his life. read the rest of this story

welcome to my blog
Sevenvillages blog was started in response to the negative posts on "hate-blogs", but has become a place for discussion about issues, problems, and solutions that face our town.
The views and opinions reflected in articles and posts on this site do not represent the entire town council, but simply personal perspectives.
Peace is always possible.

Janet, After reading your updated information on the “from hate bloggers” link. I think it could happen. This woman Taryn Thoman is completely out of control. When she finally snapps and it appears that she will, look out. I hope you have forwarded all of her writings to the BPD. I am sure they would be interested in her threats. Good luck to you.

If it happened here would anyone REALLY be shocked?
You only have to read one page of the anger and hatred put forth by this towns conspiracy theorists.
You have been described with profanities and the kind of words designed to cut to the core of hatred of women.
The town manager and people who work for the town are victims of hate and libel.
The [local newspaper] drinks it in and publishes it as front page news, giving these people the attention they want.
Time for metal detectors or some sort of screening process at Barnstable’s own town hall!
They do it at the court houses, why not town halls?
