Recall? Again?
No. There have been a few inquiries in the past several weeks about a recall effort being spearheaded by one of the charter commission candidates who lost the election and now seems to have focused in on me.
Taryn Thoman – former charter candidate, former owner of Taryn’s Mirror on Main Street in Hyannis.
She is not a resident of my precinct. The purpose for her would-be recall is unclear but appears to be based on this, (seven villages) blog. Someone told me that she feels that I shouldn’t be using a website or blog to communicate issues.
But, she can. And, she DOES!
For a look at the kind of blog she puts together (she is the person who created the image of my face on Osama Bin Ladin’s body using a photo she took of me at a political get-together, the photo was later used on the cover of the Cape Cod Voice)

She currently is waging a campaign on her blog against me and her neighbors.
This is new – click here to see a chached version of one of these blogs and here to see a cached version the latest where she has added a litte more color to my photo and yet another one also from cached Internet history, because she deleted the content again – this blogs have been deleted and reposted over and over – deleted, usually when this kind of attention is given.
She takes still photos and movies of people she is harassing, and then uses them on these websites.
The bottom line is this person has a history of harassment documented in court papers. The types of things she has written on blogs are almost frighteningly hateful.
She is not a resident of my precinct, so she cannot initiate a recall petition. This has recently been proven in court.
I have never actually met her, I have never spoken to her.
She has no clear legal reason for a recall. She closed her store on main street, and seems to have a lot of time on her hands, but the rest of us have a lot to do.
There are a lot of important issues that our council and town should be dealing with right now. Our Town Clerk has her hands full with presidential elections. The town has paid enough money in court fees and staff time to deal with these hate-bloggers accusations and court cases. They have filed cases and charges and initiated investigations that have all been investigated and proved to be unfounded. Most recently, one losing town council candidate filed formal hate crime accusations which resulted in an investigation that proved unfounded. We shouldn’t have to commit money and staff time because these people want attention.
I will keep working on the issues important to this town and my precinct. I will continue to work as a president who will find compromise and consensus on important issues. If this woman wants to continue her own personal campaign against me she is free to do so, but I will not allow her to distract me from what is important. Please, let’s just ignore her.

I believe the woman that is responsible for this obsessive unending stream of hate is person with severe mental illness. I find it quite sad actually and am wondering if she is in the process of getting help. Has the police ever considered some kind of forced evaluation like they just recently did with Britney Spears? I worries me that she seems so stuck on her issues to the harmful consequence to her and those around her. A working definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. Her obsession with hurting you and others has not succeeded and she seems hell-bent on continuing dispite many failed attempts. It’s a darn pity, really.

taryn thoman spends endless hours on her computer and then answers her comments using various names. I know some of the situation in her neighborhood. My friend is a friend of the neighbors whom she harasses. Personally. I am a voter in your precent and am very satisfied with all you have done for us. You can count on my vote.

You are a strong woman Janet. You have also done much good for our precint despite what Taryn Thoman would like us to think. The real issue here is that this is a woman that is in need of some serious help and fast. I know her personally, I will not say how because I have seen her in action and do not want to get on her hate list. This is how she lives her life. Looking to create waves where ever she can no matter what. Even if it doesn’t directly involve her. Taryn Thoman is starved for attention and will do anything to get it. You are right to ignore her. You had my vote initially and will have it again in the future. Let her wallow in her own self pitty. I read on another site that she just recently lost her business. Perhaps if she put as much energy into making a living as she does harassing others she would still have her place of business? Just a thought.

Why is Taryn Thoman still at it?
She lost her election!
Taryn’s Mirror no longer reflects main street – rocks just don’t sell the way they used to!
She said she was closing Taryn’s Mirror to start TArynsmirror.com but there is nothing new on that site, there is little there at all.
She is creating new blogs about you and about Demetrius Atsalis, and spouting all kinds of hate with language and rhetoric that is frightening.
Someone told me she teaches Sunday School at a Church!!!!
Has the minister or priest of her church seen that website you linked to? How about the new site she created?
Someone needs to show her minister the page you have on this website!
Is there anyone in her life who cares enough to tell her she is really looking like she needs help? Maybe her minister can help.

Janet, I say continue to ignore. She is the one who keeps it going and falsely adds comments under names of people who are completely uninvolved. Who cares if she sells rocks on Main St. or on the internet or out of her bathroom. She needs to get a life and somebody with authority needs to put her in her place, not pacify her to avoid a possible lawsuit by the lawsuit-happy Thoman. The word “sophomoric” is used quite frequently by her, yet she invents little childish nicknames for people she doesn’t like that even my preschooler is beyond. Take the higher road, you have tact, she doesn’t. I agree that somebody should make her church aware of the evil and language that she publicly spews. Me, I am much to busy with my family and my life. Keep up the good work Janet.

Ok, I can see that ignoring (this woman) does not seem to be working.
To many people have similar stories regarding this woman for there not to be some truth to them. If anything we should feel sorry for her. She cannot possibly be conscious of what she is doing. Watch the TV show Intervention. One thing you will notice is that the people that are in need of the most help do not realize it. They actually think everyone else around them is in need of help or the cause of their problems. Blaming everyone else for what’s wrong in their life.
Do not feel anger, feel sorrow and realize that she is probably not fully aware of what she does. I know this won’t be easy to feel sorrow for someone that has caused so much pain to so many people. What goes around comes around. Perhaps in a month, a year or two years down the road. It always comes around. By taking part in her hate blogging we are only enabeling her. Think about all that you have in your life? Think about how emotionally rich and stable you are? Think about how fortunate you are? Once you have thought about those things, think about her life and pose those same questions. The answers you get will lead you down the right path.–God Bless

Has it ever crossed your mind that the continual posting about these alleged hate bloggers is only showing y o u r obsession with them? Why not just do what you have been saying for months and actually ignore these people? These posts diminish your credibility and are damaging your reputation in your precinct. While no one likes being criticized, you are a public figure, and you have a responsibility to represent your town in a better fashion than this. Just stop already. You are acting like a petulant child.

It seems that she has drawn attention to herself with her obsession for some of her foes. 400 voters came out in 6 for the 04 primary. In 00, another year without an incumbent candidate, 1000 voters came out in 6 for the primary. 2\58 will be a very rare opportunity to push a recall petition plus a 300 signature meeting of the voters petition plus any other petitions which come to mind.

I think what is happening is that people are starting to distance themselves from this obvioulsy out of control woman. She has given up everything to devote 100 % of her time to the persuit of Janet Joakim and others.
Although Gary and his crew are also outspoken and at times do cross the line they do not stoop to the level that Taryn puts herself at. You can have a lot of people in your cheering section but when you involve them personally by posting your hate filled garbage on their sites that they are responsible for, putting them at risk, they will slowly move away.
The comment by “Save the Taryn’s from themselves” gave Taryn good advice. Unfortunately, she no longer has control over herself or her actions. She needs to hit rock bottom before she will seek help. I cannot help but think she will be doing that in the not so distant future. She has said and done too much and in doing so has created her own destiny. I want to make it clear that I am in no way excusing her actions but there has to be a small part in all of us that must feel a bit of sorrow for her.
*Taryn, admitting that you need help and then getting help is not easy. You are on a road that does not lead to a good ending. Think about your future, think about your child and think about your own self well being. It’s not too late to turn your life around. With each new attempt or harassing post you are only digging yourself into a deeper hole. There is no light at the end of the tunnel, there is nothing to win here. I know from your point of view that you probably feel everyone else is the problem, everyone else is to blame and everyone else is harassing you. Janet Joakim does not have a history of such behavior. You do. Not only in the political arena but the public/personal arena as well. I use the word “arena” because you have created battles all around you. All of the parties involved have one thing in common.
That one thing is you.
You are the common thread.
Think about it.
Please get some help.
I will pray that God blesses you and gives you the inner strength to seek some help.

Taryn, I know you will likely see this post shortly after I type it, I want you to know that I wish you absolutely no harm or discord.
You are a human being and sometimes we humans become sick and need care. In your case, you have become very ill and there, unfortunately, is no happy ending with your malign condition of obsesseion unless you seek and receive the mental health services that you need.
You have reached a point of unstability that is a concern to many people, both friend and “foe.”
I would like for you to consider, if you are of the mind to accept advice, that not everyone is out to get you.
There are still many professionals available who would be more than willing to help you, all you need to do is to take the initiative to reach out for help. These are dark days for us all, especially dark for people who are mentally in crisis. May I suggest that you don’t really want to harm Janet Joakim or your neighbors.
Your inner demons are the result of a mental desease that has gone unchecked and needs to be treated. I am in no way making light of your situation, just as I wouldn’t make light or joke about a severe diabetic’s condition. No, we live in a day and age where the stigmas attached to mental illness are more compassionate. Perhaps if you finally receive the medication you need, you will once again be able to function and possibly enjoy your surroundings. Your sound mental health is indeed my most sincere wish.
I see you have stepped away from your scathing blog attacks on other citizens in our town. I think that taking those blogs down was an excellent idea. I’m encouraged, because it possibly is the first step in you getting into treatment.

I just read these comments and i think it’s a shame that ms. thoman is acting out so badly. I hope nothing happens to her, meaning I hope she settles down a bit. I’ve met her and she can be a fun gal at times. But you’re all right, she tends to obsess and has a very hard time letting go. it’s good some of you are standing up to her. to not stand up to her would send her the wrong message. she needs help, for the benifit of her and her family

Lookout folks. It looks like TT is on one of her agressive mood swings. She is adding hate to one of her hate sites. I’m also told that she has been bothering the cops again about her issues. They are getting really sick of her. When TT gets into her attack mode everyone needs to be careful. If someone published a photo of her, like she has done to good citizens of her hate blogs, people who don’t know her could at least keep their kids away from her. We’re advised that she is capable of doing anything when she is in an agressive state. Remember that she threatens and is capible of violence. Be careful.

Just a thought I just saw the picture of Janet and her family on the “recall site” let me just say that she has a beautiful looking family. She has what SOME people desperately want, but for one reason or another CAN’T and will NEVER have. At the end of the day she has all of them to go home to. Janet hold your head high because you can. Jealousy can be an ugly thing and for SOME people and very hard to deal with, as everyone can obviously see at this point. Imagine going home or staying home all day promoting hate? You on the otherhand go to work and then go home to your family and spend your time with them. Looking at the picture I would say it is time well spent.
