Consider this……. Eric Schwaab ……. How can we trust a man who:
** Purchased a summer home four years ago, then collected the residential exemption on his home ,this is the 20% “discount” on property taxes available to residents whose PRIMARY home is in Barnstable. Schwaab collected this exemption for two years despite the fact that at that time this was his secondary or second home, as he was registerd to vote in Boston and ALSO collecting the residential exemption in BOSTON!… He tells us this (the fact that he was given the residential exemption in Barnstable) was an oversight on the town’s part, but I know ** I *** noticed when my tax bill went down right away, even though my mortgage company pays the taxes. He waited several tax bill cycles to point out this error…. COME ON, who doesn’t notice when their bills go DOWN?
***Has his cars registered in Boston where he pays excise taxes, not here in Barnstable where he is running for town council. Here we use this money to pay for roads etc…. of course out of the other side of his mouth, Schwaab is slamming the town for not doing more to repair roads…..
****Reported to the town assessor last year that his home here in Hyannis was NOT his primary residence(oops!) and is NOW collecting the residential exemption in BOSTON, claiming THAT HIS BOSTON HOME IS NOW HIS PRIMARY RESIDENCE! He has not applied for the residential exemption here in Barnstable……….this is public information found on the city of Boston Website…
*****Set Gary Lopez up with a stage to perform on by setting Lopez up with a blog and supporting him all along. On his blog Lopez has used racial, ethinic, and sexual slurs, committed libel, and worse. Schwaab is proud of the fact that he set Lopez up on a blog, as he brags in an article about his hate-blogging in the Cape Cod Voice magazine…..
This is not right. He is not a resident here in the this town, he is a resident of Boston. He has been manufacturing issues to run against, not showing us real issues and real answers.
And, the bottom line is that the hate and venom that has come from his blog and the blog he set up as a stage for Gary Lopez has taken local politics in this town to a new low and is turning people off to the idea of getting involved……
It is time for him to pack his little dog up for the winter and spend the “off season” at his home and home office in Boston.
Tomorrow - manufactured issues are better than relying on who you are and what you have to offer……

There is much more wrong with this picture than what you have here. Why can’t something be done legally about the way he is messing with the residency issue. If you look at his tax reports on the city of boston website, he gets a much bigger break in his taxes with their residential exemption! How can he run for office in one town and claim to be a resident in another? Isn’t it illegal if it means more money in his pockets?
This all smells like a bucket of dead fish. He is not an honest man. How can we stop this stuff?

I agree about all of this.
There people looking into the definition of residence with regards to running for office, beyond the campaign finance office.

I am so sick of this crap.
I want them all brought to court for what they have cost us in tax money!!!!!
What is this stuff about tharyn thoman and the stuff she is doing. This is the same nutcase who made blogs about you and put that picture together with you and osama. She seems like she is just plain looney tunes. I feel bad for the neighbor.
Does she or her neighbors have kids that have to watch all this?

I have just found this web site and I appreciate your work here. My mother lives in Hyannis and Mr.Scwhaab came to her door one day last week. She was very uncomfortable about his attitude. She told me there was something “off” about him. Then I saw the Voice newspaper and bought it for her. We read those articles and she is now very unhappy. She is now actually afraid of him his friends.
Then her neighbor and her were talking yesterday and the neighbor told her that the same guy came to his door several times and they wer angry and told him to stop. He read the newspaper my mother had and he is also angry.
The neighbors don’t usually vote and we have told them to vote so that this creep doesn’t become a counillor and end up being my mother’s councillor.
I want to help and am sending you an email to give you my information. I live in Cotuit so I can’t vote aginst him but I want to help.

John Julius spends a lot of time bragging about signing his name on blogs.
He calls people cowards who don’t sign their names.
people are afraid his temper is going to explode and he is going to hurt someone. Whenever anyone “dares” to sign their name he rips them to shreds via a computer.
Does he realize that we all watch what he has done to you and other councilors and that we chose to comment with a cloak over our identities to protect ourselves and our families from his psycho wrath?

My family, including my 4 children ages 4-10 have lived on Mountain Ash Rd. for 11 years this December. We have always had a friendly rapport with our neighbors, though only one that we were friends with, as we have children the same ages.
Ms. Thoman moved in May 2005 with her then 3 year old son. She seemed “odd” from day one, but I am a benefit of the doubt kind of person. My then 7 year old never liked her-she’s like her dad , a realistic judge of character, but she was polite to this new family. By July 2005 another neighbor became Ms. Thoman’s target of hate-he was an 8 year old boy! I didn’t alienate this child and his family, as she wanted me to and by September we became the new target-1 civil lawsuit (including 9 eronious charges), 17 criminal charges(by Thoman & her husband-not the police), 7 DSS reports later (all unfounded & unsupperted) and 1 1/2 + years of our time and lawyers fees-she stopped.
Why? Because she was running for charter commission.
Then Janet Joakim became her new person to HATE! The whole time, we have remained on 24/7/365 video surveillance with 3 cameras that we know of and a new one added this week, mounted to a tree-it’s infra red and aimed down the street towards our home. They even cut down limbs of trees that were blocking views to our yard!
NOBODY in the neighborhood will even wave at her. She has gone to great lengths to cover this information up, including removing the you-tube video she made with the childish drawings over pictures in exchange to hide this info. Even david Still has removed anything negative written on dotcommons. It’s funny how he lets the coggers say what they want, but Ms. Thoman is protected? What’s going on there?
This neighborhood has edured a lot at the hands of Ms. Thoman and her husband, but I would like to thank her. She has brought our neighborhood closer and where I used to have aquaintances, I now have friends. Ironically, the family she started harassing, the one she wanted us to not associate with, is the family we have become the closest to. A good and wise person once told me, people like her will self implode. I will wait for that day, it’s karma. In the mean time lets make sure to tell everyone we know to not vote TT or JJ or eric Schwaab. We have many friends and relatives in District 3-GO MUNAFO!!!

Another blog says that Schwaab has collected $8000 for his campaign, but that it is his own money. How do we know that? How does anyone know that he isn’t collecting money from people and not reporting it? Is there a way to check on this?

Please note none of this has been confirmed by the owner of this blog - much of this has been edited. This commenter has put this up on several other anti-hate blogs ….. we have close friends in Switzerland who are family of Holocaust survivors who have access to some in depth records and we have asked them to look into this. You can’t pick your family, so we can’t always hold people to the errors of their families, until behaviors make us look deeper. This might be interesting for some. I would prefer to keep it to the current facts. We have records of an original blog by Schwaab about a former wife that borders on bizarre that seem to be more indicative of his strange behaviors.
Couple of things you should know about Eric Edlef Schwaab.
His family can be traced back to the Nazi Party in Germany, which may explain his propensity to lie and his Blitzkrieg campaign spending. His father’s side of the family records fighting with the Nazi party on the Russian front. His granddaddy was a high ranking official.
Also this blowhard who calls others tax cheats, has a public record as a tax cheat himself. Seems he left Texas and his first wife in rather a hurry in 1997.
The guy is pathetic. Life does have a sweet justice though … he has to live with himself. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
