I do not play anonymous games - but, the childish hate mongers are at it again

I have made a pledge not to read the hate blogs that misrepresent their conspiracy theories as truths.
I have constituents who do, and who on occasion, will let me know if there appears to be libelous statements made about me. In these cases, I am given a summary or a quote from a particular blog, but I still remain committed to not reading them.
According to one constiutent, lately there have been some major attempts to draw me out and it is becoming hard not to hire a lawyer and take it to court.
I don’t like to respond to lies- but will in this one case.
It appears that there is now a blog that is set up primarily to accuse me of creating an anonymous blog to point out the lies in the hate blogs. And, of course this new accusatory blog is set up by …. hmmm, can’t tell who it is, as the author is ANONYMOUS.
Although I think it is important to bring the lies and misrepresentations the hate blogs post daily to the front and point out the true motives, I don’t need to do it anonymously, I already have a blog. You are reading it. And, you know who writes it.
Additionally, I have a life, a busy life, I don’t have time to post as much as I want to on this blog, let alone create another blog anonymously and further to be reading the hate blogs and posting to THEM.
Let me state here for the record, (I am sure the hate blogs will enjoy tearing this apart.):
I take my job as a councilor seriously.
Not every issue has a clear answer, not every situation is clear cut.
Most issues have at LEAST two sides, and someone will almost always be unhappy with any particular vote or a decision I make as a councilor.
I respect the people I represent, and I believe most of the people in my precinct know and understand that.
Taken in total, the sum of my votes and decisions will show that as a town councilor, I am not committed to any particular special interest, or political group. Our positions are non-partisan for a reason.
I am not going to vote or take a position because I was threatened, and despite what hate blogs have stated in their libel about me, I have NEVER taken a bribe or gained anything from a business or individual from being in office!
I have always been willing to listen to all sides of an issue. On more than one occasion I have found myself changing positions on an issue after studying information and hearing from all sides.
Isn’t that our job as elected officials? Should we come into office willing to listen to all sides of an issue? Shouldn’t we be willing to study the backgrounds and facts and numbers and learn about the possible effects of votes on our residents?
Bottom line, though? This is my only blog, and any accusation that I am doing something anonymously should be made by someone who is not anonymous, and needs to be discussed carefully before they find themselves in front of a judge for libelous statements. Anyonmous isn’t always anyonmous, especially in this day of changing technology.
Additionally, I have been told by constituents who read the hate blogs that they accuse anyone who posts a comment in disagreement of being - me.
I do not visit, read, or post to those blogs.

Unfortunately, since the internet, for the most part, enables people to be anonymous, people of all types feel that they are free to sling as much dirt as they want about anyone. No one is safe from it. My wife gets it all the time. I get it when I post about a really “sensitive” topic. Some people don’t have a soul. There has been plenty of litigation regarding their hate-mongering, but it does not deter others from following in their path. It’s really sad how some people feel they should live their lives this way.

Thanks- I appreciate the comments, but not as much as I my own husband and daughter do.
The lies and hate are hardest on them. I still am appauled, often people send me quotes from these blogs and it is hard to believe the level of hate that comes from some of them. What can drive that kind of hate? Damaged souls?
People want to believe that anyone who would run for or is elected to office is corrupt and once in office learns some sort of secret handshake and becomes part of the conspiracies that are the theories de jour.

Taryn Thoman is the one who put the blog page together. Julius might be writing but it is her page and she is behind that and she is the one who does the youtube videos. Thoman has a history of harrassing people and was even taken to court because she harrassed a family that includes kids in her neighborhood.
She owns a store on main street hyannis called Taryn’s Mirror, that is why the name might sound familiar.
The tone of those blogs and youtube videos is childish and nasty and anyone who has had to deal with her would recognize her style. She and Jon Julis make a good pair.

My nineteen-year-old daughter read that blog, then she saw a video that Taryn Thoman has on YouTube about the council, complete with childish, almost frightening pictures of photos of councilors with devil horns drawn on with black marker… signs of some sort of psycho disfunction.
My daughter keeps saying that this all reminds her way to much of the catty girls in High School and is so immature. Kind of put it all into perspective. It IS childish and I am not going to respond to any more because that is what they are looking for.
Although, finding out that this woman has had harrassment charges filed against her in the past, and that she has been taken to court for threats, is a little disturbing.
To put so much time and energy into trashing me and making those elaborate videos is frightening. It takes time to edit photos and create images with the photos, and in some cases, even go and take those photos…..
What is next? Is she going to poison my dogs or something?
Regardless, there is a lot going on right now, and I have more important things to do than play these silly games.
Clearly, the response is such that people think this is typical behavior and the extremism is typical of her.
She fits right in with the King of Pajamas and his band of merry men.

It is gone removed or something. Seems like the heat got too hot. I have some of the text saved if you are still going to do something about it. There are other ways to get the text even though it is gone and I can tell you how if you still need it.

Weird and unsettling though- the whole thing is.
What a strange week - starting with sharing space with the likes of dick cheney to all this nastiness.
These guys are so miserable and unhappy they are going to keep it up till the rest of us are looking at the world through dirt-smeared glasses like theirs.
I’m going to head to the beach for a late lunch with my husband and enjoy that clean clear horizon sans windfarm……..

hey! some of us work the late shift and have to read this while you all are sleeping.
Let me tell you something, this stuff is getting way too mean!!! the jerks are losing sanity, did the cape run out of cheap scotch and piss these guys off?
I am in a rare mood tonight because I am tired of these idiots who think they know everything. some of us have worked for the town for many years and although we don’t always agree with manangement, they wouldn’t be good managers if we did.
We have it so better than so many other towns and states and we need to get rid of these idiots who threaten to come in and mess it all up.
My wife went to that store on main street with the grandkids and told me that it was a store for people who want to buy crystals and rocks or pay too much for jewelry.
She was looking for a good spell to cast on the raccoon that keeps digging in the garden, but the kids wanted out of there, bad vibes I guess.

I too have been harassed by Ms. Thoman and her husband for more than 1 1/2 years. She alienated herself from all the neighbors and not a single neighbor wants anything to do with her. She has used every possible means to harass my family, including my 4 young children, as well as another neighbor and their 2 children. Everything from DSS to the police to the courts and our places of employment. She has involved her family members and her employees. The BPD pressed charges against her for the criminal harassment of my family. She and her husband pressed their own criminal charges (which the BPD wouldn’t file). All together, they filed 17 retailiatory charges. Unfortunately the DA’s office saw the whole thing as a headache and decided not to prosecute either side (my husband and my objection to this was noted). She is a very evil and mean spirited person and her depth of hatred runs deep. I am truly afraid of what she is capeable of doing. She has shown no concern for even children, my own and guests of mine. For those who think that Janet is overreacting, think again–Taryn Thoman is a DANGEROUS person-anybody that is in her path of destruction should keep their guard up. NO tact NO class NO respect-JUST HATE. That is what Ms. Taryn Thoman stands for. Eveything I have said is truthful and can be backed up by numerous letters and witnesses to her dangerous and bizarre behavior. She decided to leave us alone for the time being while she runs for Charter Commission, she’ll start up again when she loses.

IMPORTANT NOTE-
I have been receiving messages from Taryn Thoman and her husband with extensive details about their issues with neighbors — more details than anyone needs to know about their personal life that make me very very uncomfortable.
I have had email contact with one of the neighbors who left a comment on this blog and am sympathetic based on what I have observed and saved to files since the beginning of June 07.
I have temporarily moderated that comment made by the neighbor.
I have NOT removed these comments because the Thoman-Dwyer family has made threats. Not because they have sent emails to police and what appears to be state reps (they have no idea why!) None of these officials are interested in this issue. But the discussion, if they were interested, would have to include the unbelievable rhetoric this woman has posted on blogs and YouTube about me and others. Language that includes the kind of profanity even a truck driver would be ashamed of
I have temporarily removed that post that discusses this neighborhood harrassment issue with the Thoman-Dwyer family as described by their neighbors.
However:
I personally have never experienced the kind of personal, hateful rhetoric, (except for John Julius’s negative rants) that this woman has posted around the blogs and internet and I find it interesting that she is so unhappy when her name is used in posts that don’t even compare to the viceral attacks she types regularly.
