Announcement

March 6, 2007 at 2:19 am | In barnstable town council, council president janet joakim |

This evening, after a long ride back from an off-Cape doctor’s appointment, I arrived home to a phone call.

Through an attorney who in turn used an intermediary, Jim Walsh requested to meet with me tonight. I brought along my husband and an attorney who was there to listen at my request.

Jim Walsh apologized for the personal nature of the recall, and wanted everyone there to hear him say that there were NO threats made against him, his wife, his kids or anyone. He gave me the petitions and agreed to send a joint letter with me to the people who signed them.

  1. Keep up the fight, Janet. This is getting more bizarre by the moment. You have handled yourself with dignity and honor.

Wondering who is going to come out of this looking worse, John Julius or David Still. Did you (attempt) to read Still’s editorial last week? Dave- Can we say retirement?

  2. Janet,

I hope this is the beginning of the end for the Garbageman, his JESTER, and the rest of the Crazies. If Jim Walsh is truly repentent, good for him, but I have to say that he brought misfortune upon himself. Walsh has run around for years screaming that everyone in town government is corrupt, deceitful, etc; it will be a long time before his words hold any credibility with me. Best of luck to you … and thank you for remaining an elected official and giving the people a choice of who shall serve as their governors.

  3. I did not believe any valid threat was made against Jim Walsh. I also was sorry to see the other site degrade to accusations of fascism.

I always had reservations with that site, but am very supportive of its cause. Even if your 100% correct on this issue, the people did vote. The people in your district are not your children; the people are your constituents with trust in you.

Granted I am not in your district, but your vote makes my living on the Cape more expensive. Being a fourth generation Cape Codder, I have seen taxes go up in the state and now locally. To the point of it being out of control.
